“Alpha Tauri’s ultimatum to Nyck de Vries: Three races to improve or be replaced by Daniel Ricciardo”

Nyck de Vries has had a difficult start to his first season in Formula 1.

The Dutchman ran into Lando Norris right at the start of this weekend’s Grand Prix in Miami and has previously been with his teammate Yuki Tsunoda in the sprint in Baku, crashed in qualifying for the main race in Baku and was run off the track in the Australian GP.

Now the patience of Alpha Tauri seems to be running out. According to information to motorsport.com Helmut Marko has given de Vries an ultimatum: he has three races to improve – otherwise he will be poked.

The 28-year-old would then be replaced by Daniel Ricciardo, who left Red Bull ahead of the 2019 season but returned as third driver in the team after being left out of this year’s grid.

Nyck de Vries already has a Formula 2 and a Formula E title as his main credentials. His best result in Formula 1 is a ninth place from the Italian GP last year when he jumped in and drove a race with Williams.
