Last weekend the alpaca world met at the Messe Center Graz. 250 breeding animals were evaluated under the strict eyes of judge Frauke Berman.

The Alpaka Expo 2024 was once again a complete success. For three days, Graz became the world capital of alpaca breeding. A unique mix of specialist exhibition, international alpaca show and informative lectures at the expo rounded off the extensive program.

Thomas Pötsch, President of the Austrian Alpaca Breeding Association (ÖAZV), was delighted with the successful event: “Despite the challenges of recent years, we are proud to have successfully held the Alpaka Expo 2024. What was particularly pleasing for us was that the visitors were enthusiastic about the high quality of the products we presented.”

Animals with a special charisma

State Councilor Simone Schmiedtbauer also confirmed this: “The three-day event was a complete success. You immediately notice that these animals have a special charisma and have a very calming effect. In addition to the specialist lectures for the conference participants, visitors were offered a varied show and entertainment program. The international alpaca show and the fleece show with European Championship were just some of the highlights.” Schmiedtbauer thanked those responsible for organizing this top-class event. The agricultural exhibition presented all alpaca supplies, while the textile and fashion fair showed fashion, home textiles and handmade items made from the most valuable alpaca fiber.

LK President Franz Titschenbacher also praised the breeding show highly: “Styrian agriculture stands for diversity and the highest quality, and Styrian alpaca breeders do the same. We want to continue to be at your side in the future.” Farmers’ Association director Franz Tonner concludes: “The Farmers’ Association, as an advocate for rural areas, also supports the alpaca breeders in their concerns. I would like to thank the breeding association for the high quality of their breeding work.”

Grazer Wechselseiten Versicherung, one of the main sponsors of the event, made a significant contribution to its success. Paul Swoboda, board member of the Grazer Wechselseiten, emphasized: “We as Grazer Wechselseiten are always pleased to be a long-standing partner of the Alpaca Fair. It’s a great event for the whole family.”
