Cardano (ADA) is busy behind the scenes with big plans. One of those plans is theAlonzo hard fork’. This update should finally make it possible to smart contracts to the Cardano network.
From first phase of this ‘Alonzo hard fork’ was Alonzo Blue. Initially, the testnet was only accessible to a small exclusive group, but as the process progressed, more and more people would be able to participate in the testing process. After a month, the next phase would be moved on: Alonzo White.
Alonzo White
On July 14, the time had finally come. The Alonzo testnet would switch from Alonzo Blue to Alonzo White. Meanwhile, the team behind Cardano, Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK) has announced that this dat fork to the new testnet has been successful. Good news for Cardano!

During this phase of Alonzo, the amount of users on the testnet is significantly increased. In addition, a lot more functions will become available to these users. It is for these reasons that the Alonzo White phase is perhaps the most important.
Full launch
The launch of the Alonzo testnet on the mainnet is expected sometime in September this year. This is a highly anticipated moment for Cardano investors. Finally, the network could actually deliver what it has been promising for years.
Many therefore expect the usefulness of the native token of Cardano, ADA, will explode. Smart contracts will be installed on the Cardano blockchain finally be a reality.

Until then, there are still some important steps to go for Cardano. IOHK states on Twitter that the next phase of the journey has now started. After Alonzo White there will be another Alonzo Purple after about a month. Then the launch is on Cardano’s mainnet on the agenda.
