Alonso broke the record during the French GP, Alpine moved to fourth place in the Constructors’ Cup – F1sport.cz

Fernando Alonso scored points in the seventh race in a row. During the race, he also broke the record for the number of laps completed in Formula 1. The two-time world champion completed 18,672 laps in the Grand Prix.

“I am satisfied with our race today. It was well managed from our side and we took good care of the tyres. During the weekend we had to work on a lot of things in the balance of the car, but we finished just behind the top five, so a very decent race,” said Alonso, who finished sixth.

“I had a good start and moved up to fifth, but then we dropped to sixth and continued in that position in the race. It shows that if we have a clean weekend like this we can finish in the top six. Hopefully we can maintain this level of results in the second half of the season as well.”

Ocon scored points in his home race for the first time

At the third attempt, Esteban Ocon managed to score points in his home Grand Prix of France. In 2018, he did not finish the race in the colors of the Force India team, and last year he finished fourteenth in Alpina. He took eighth place today.

“The goal today was to score points with both cars and we did it! I’m happy with my race, it was great to ride in front of the home fans who were incredible all weekend so I thank them for their support,” said Ocon.

“It was tough in the heat, but I enjoyed some of the fights. We are now fourth in the Constructors’ Cup, so we are very positive and motivated to maintain this position. I hope it will be in France next year because there is nothing better than a home grand prix.”
