Last day in Riga, 167 new infections were registered and the total cumulative number of cases in the capital for 14 days is currently 1432 people. In turn, 31 new patients were registered in Daugavpils and the total number of infected people in the last two weeks has reached 245 people. In these two municipalities, the total number of cases registered per day is 198 or 63.26% of the total number of Covid-19 cases.
Also, 11 newly infected people were registered in Jūrmala, where the total cumulative number of cases in 14 days has reached 63 people. Nine new cases have been discovered in Dobele region, where a total of 24 people have become ill in the last two weeks. Seven other newly infected people were registered in Saulkrasti municipality, the total number of ill people reaching 14 days reached 53 people.
Six new patients were registered in Sigulda region, five each – in Krāslava, Ķekava, Daugavpils and Ādaži counties, four each – in Liepāja, Ogre, Stopiņi and Ropaži counties. A smaller number of infected people are still registered in a number of municipalities.
Covid-19 has also returned to Engure, Rundāle and Ape districts, where all the patients had previously recovered.
In the last two weeks, no new patients have been registered in Priekule region.
In total, Covid-19 infection is currently detected in 101 Latvian municipalities. The largest total number of patients in the last two weeks is in Riga – 1432, in Daugavpils – 245, as well as in Liepāja – 77 inhabitants.
Of those infected last day, 58 are between 30 and 39 years old, 55 are between 40 and 49 years old, and 48 are between 50 and 59 years old. Other age groups have fewer cases.
Data on Covid-19 cases in municipalities are compiled by the agency LETA on the basis of operational open data published by the SPC, which can be updated in connection with changes in patients’ place of residence over time. As a result, operational open data may differ from that reported on the SPKC Twitter platform.
It has already been reported that a total of 313 cases of Covid-19 were detected in Latvia last day, which is the largest number of cases detected in one day so far, according to the data compiled by the SPKC.
A record number of Covid-19 tests were also performed last day – 7,328, and in 4.3% of cases they were positive. The SPCC has previously explained that this figure is considered important in the European Union, as above 4%, the spread of the disease is considered to be rapid and uncontrolled.
Six patients who had been confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 died last day. This is the highest number of patients dying in a single day to date. Three of the deceased patients were in the age groups of 60 to 80 and three more – in the age group of 80 to 90 years. To date, 85 deaths have been reported in patients with confirmed infection with Covid-19.
To date, a total of 6,752 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in Latvia, while 1,444 people have recovered from Covid-19.
Previously, the highest number of cases detected in one day was on October 29, when 284 cases of Covid-19 were detected.
