Andreas Rettig knows his way around professional football. The man was not only the manager of numerous German first and second division clubs, but also the managing director of the German Football League (DFL). So when Rettig talks about the “value” of a club, there is certainly expertise behind it. “For me, SC Freiburg is an almost ideal type of club,” says the 58-year-old about the first division club from Breisgau. And certainly not just because he once worked there (1998 to 2002). In Rettig’s eyes, the sports club is one of the few clubs that are crisis-proof.
