The Russian government has allocated almost half a billion rubles for the solution environmental problems in the city of Usolye-Sibirskoye, Irkutsk region… Decision is made on behalf of the President of Russia, the channel reports “Russia 24”.
The document, published on the government’s website, notes that the money – 434.8 million rubles – will be used to dismantle the mercury electrolysis shop at the Usoliekhimprom plant. The enterprise has not been operating for three years, but it still remains the main source of pollution.
It is also planned to use the allocated funds to secure containers with waste and build protective screens on the banks of the Angara. It is reported that specialists from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Rosatom are already working on the spot – with the help of special reagents they process the contaminated soil.
