During a gala of a Rotterdam student association, dozens of people were infected with the corona virus. After the party last Thursday, 78 of the 250 visitors have now tested positive, President Bas Radder reports to regional broadcaster. Rhine estuary.
The Navigators Student Association Rotterdam (NSR) has a club on Eendrachtsplein, but the gala was on a boat. “The club is closed for renovations. We do have a terrace, but it will remain closed this week.” The president does not want to say on which boat the party was.
Everything according to the rules
The association says it has done everything according to the rules. People had to sign up via Testing for Access and all QR codes, along with proof of identity, were checked at the entrance, Radder says. “We did everything right at the front. Yet someone can slip through. That sucks.”
According to the president, the people who have tested positive mainly suffer from fever. “For the time being, the consequences are not too bad. They are all people between 18 and 25 years old. The last visitors are being tested today. Then we have a total picture. We hope that everyone will be healthy again in a week and a half.”
Multiple fires
From past days more fires of corona have arisen in places where many young people gathered. The Utrecht rowing club Triton, the Hague student association La Confrérie and the Groningen student association RKSV Albertus Magnus, among others, had to deal with an outbreak. And an evening in a disco in Enschede, more than a week ago, led to at least 180 infections.
