SsangYong has released the first design sketches of a new concept SUV called the X200. The car will receive retro shapes in appearance – the corner body, short overhangs and round optics, typical of Jeep cars.
The Koreans note that in developing the car, they were inspired by the design of the original Korando from 1983, which in turn strongly resembles the classic Jeep CJ – a civilian version of the famous Willys MB from World War II.
There is no data yet on the technical component of SsangYong X200. The SUV is expected to receive a hybrid or all-electric powertrain, as the Koreans said some time ago that they would focus on creating environmentally friendly cars.
It will be recalled that SsangYong is currently in a difficult financial situation – at the end of 2020, the carmaker filed for bankruptcy due to the inability to pay creditors to whom it owed a total of $ 150 million. Koreans are currently actively looking for investors.
SsangYong expects to improve its position by introducing new market models designed and in line with modern trends. In particular, we are talking about hybrid and all-electric crossovers.
