At Gamescom 2024, NVIDIA presented a new demo of Half-Life 2 RTX. Below you will find a video showing 50 minutes of modern gameplay footage. In this video, Jacob Freeman from NVIDIA presents a demo. Jacob built most of the new wayfinding features. The video also has several action sequences.
Half-Life 2 RTX will also support DLSS 3 Frame Generation and DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction. With Frame Generation, RTX40 series owners will be able to improve gaming performance. Since the game uses full pathfinding, you will need it. And there’s no word on whether it will support FSR 3.0. However, owners of older RTX GPUs will be able to use the “DLSS 3 to FSR 3.0” mod, which works well in games that support path tracing.
Half-Life 2 RTX is being developed by four of the best Half-Life 2 modding teams, now known as Orbifold Studios. The remaster will also include new assets. These assets will be close to the original ones, but at the same time they will allow the game to look at the level of the latest AAA games.
Unfortunately, no release date has been announced yet.
