Taliban leaders, who still have not achieved international recognition, blame the West for not freezing their finances and helping Afghanistan get back on its feet. However, data from international organizations show that the “Taliban” regime does not fulfill its promises to respect human rights.
For example, the latest report of the human rights protection organization “Amnesty International” states that the lives of women and girls continue to be ruined “under conditions of a suffocating regime of repression”.
CONTEXT:
US and international coalition forces in late August 2021 concluded the nearly 20-year mission in Afghanistan. The American withdrawal was used to their advantage by the Islamic fundamentalist group “Taliban”, which took control of more and more areas of Afghanistan and in mid-August without a fight also occupied the capital of the country, Kabul. Thus, the whole of Afghanistan has returned to the control of the “Taliban”.
Although the “Taliban” promised that will not try to settle accounts with the opponents of the regimethe international community is concerned about the deterioration of the human rights situation in Afghanistan and new restrictionswhich are imposed on different groups of society, especially women.
