In Austria more and more workers are affected by short-time work. Almost 900,000 employees are currently on short-time work.
Short-time work continues to increase rapidly in Austria. As of Friday (April 17th) there were already 63,189 applications for 871,039 jobs that could be approved, Minister of Labor Christine Aschbacher said on Monday. In addition, there are over 15,000 applications for which information is missing and which must first be processed by the AMS. A week earlier (April 10) there had been applications for 608,607 jobs.

Short-time work: Approved money will probably not be enough
Even the money approved for short-time work should not be enough. 39,298 applications with a total grant of around 4.3 billion euros have already been approved, it said in the broadcast. The funds for short-time work were increased last week from three to five billion euros.
