Almost 9000 students learned the profession of educator

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – In the 2021/2022 school year, 8,984 students were training to become educators in Hesse. Around 2,660 students graduated in the school year, according to a response from the Ministry of Social Affairs in Wiesbaden to a parliamentary question from the AfD parliamentary group. In Hesse, numerous municipalities are complaining about not being able to fill vacancies for educators due to a lack of suitable applicants.

Since 2020, the state has been supporting practice-integrated paid training to become an educator. So far, the state has made money available for 1,800 apprenticeships. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, this has led to a significant increase in the number of students by a good seven percent at the technical schools for social work in the field of social education. With the double budget 2023/2024 two more years would be financed until 2027.
