As of this Monday, July 6, 2,982 students from the Community who are in 6th grade of Primary, 4th of Compulsory Secondary Education or 2nd of Baccalaureate attend the extraordinary reinforcement classes in the 93 centers enabled for this purpose in Castilla y León. This initiative, which will last until July 31, is part of the Program for the Improvement of Educational Success, promoted by the Junta de Castilla y León.
Due to the exceptional nature of the last quarter of the 2019-2020 academic year, with non-face-to-face teaching activity, the Ministry of Education considers that these actions are especially necessary. Have organized groups with lower minimum ratios than usual in this program: six students in urban areas and four in rural areas. In addition, compulsory education students from public centers who have to travel from one location to another to attend classes will have free transportation.
In total, the Ministry of Education has provided extraordinary reinforcement classes to 2,982 students from the Community distributed in 265 groups. These data show an average of 11 students per class.
In this way, 2,025 schoolchildren in 6th grade -divided into 171 groups- will attend classes in Spanish Language and Literature, Mathematics and English. This measure, with a duration of one hour a day from Monday to Friday for each of the above areas, will be developed in 53 schools of the community.
For its part, the implementation, also experimentally, of the measure ‘Teaching extraordinary classes outside the school period to students from 2nd year of Baccalaureate ‘will have 288 participants in 31 groups, and will be developed in 40 institutes of the community.
These new actions are thus added to the one that has traditionally been developed during the month of July: ‘Teaching of extraordinary classes outside the school period to the students ofand 4º course of Compulsory Secondary Education. Preparation of extraordinary tests’. In this case, 669 students -divided into 63 groups- They will go to 52 Community centers.
According to the data provided by the Junta de Castilla y León, both families and teachers positively value these extraordinary voluntary and free classes, specifically, the 89.8% of the teachers who participate in the measure consider it effective and 82.3% of the families trust the effectiveness of the measure.
