Between Friday and Saturday morning, 2793 positive corona tests were registered at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). That is more than two hundred more than between Thursday morning and Friday morning, when, after correction, 2,561 positive test results were registered.
In the past seven days, 17,729 new cases have been reported to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). That amounts to an average of more than 2500 positive tests per day. The Netherlands has been fluctuating around that level for about two weeks.
In the municipality of Amsterdam, 221 residents received a positive test. There were 172 confirmed infections in The Hague and 163 people tested positive in Rotterdam. This is followed by Utrecht with 74 infections and Eindhoven with 54.
Deaths
The number of deaths rose by nine, just like yesterday. It is in any case about an Amsterdammer, a Rotterdammer and someone from Friesland. The fact that their death is now registered does not mean that they died the previous day. It sometimes takes a while before a death as a result of a corona infection is registered.
In the past seven days, 41 deaths have been reported to RIVM, an average of almost six per day.
