The Dutch hockey players also won their third game in the Pro Hockey League. In Santiago del Estero, in northern Argentina, coach Paul van Ass’s team won against Great Britain, just like a few days earlier. If the game ended 2-1 for the Orange on Tuesday, it was a convincing and important victory on Friday night, 6-0.
Great Britain fought bravely early in the game, had one more chance after carelessly disposing of goalkeeper Josine Koning, but not long after the Orange were firmly in control.
It didn’t take long to score the first goal. Marijn Veen took the ball in the circle and with a hard backhand scored to make it 1-0.
Orange continues
The Netherlands then remained by far the progenitor, they had quite a few chances and in the end it was Felice Albers who promoted an attack on multiple pucks up to 2-0.
Holland put the corners together, but only scored again when the ball was stopped incorrectly and then driven hard into the circle. Pien Sanders was therefore in the right place to draw on the 3-0.
When the half-time signal sounded, the Netherlands had entered the enemy circle no less than 21 times, Great Britain only twice. The odds ratio was also painful for the British team. The Dutch team had twelve shots on goal in the first half, Great Britain twice.
Do not give up
Van Ass insisted at half-time that his team would not relax and continue on the same level. It didn’t quite work out, because no big opportunities materialized in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter he immediately scores when Marente Barentsen is at the end of a good attack and thus takes charge of the 4-0. Thanks to goals from Veen and Lidewij Welten, the Orange went further 6-0.
Thanks to the victory, the Orange crawl to the top of the table. Number two, the Netherlands have 9 points from three games. Leaders Argentina, who have already played six times, have 11 points. Tomorrow the Netherlands will close a week of hockey in Argentina with a match against their home country. With a win in regular time, Orange are the new leaders.
Then men in action
In the evening, the Dutch will also face Great Britain in Argentina.
Coach Jeroen Delmée’s team is looking for revenge against the English, because two days ago the Orange lost 3-0 with no escape. Yesterday Argentina lost on penalties.
