The Almería Health District has vaccinated 95.04% of the population between 12 and 21 years of age against ACWY Meningitis. Of the total users of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) in the District, born between 2002 and 2011 (a total of 30,135), 28,644 have received the dose. An activity framed in the #ZeroMeningitis campaign launched in 2020 from the Ministry of Health and Consumption, through the General Directorate of Public Health and Pharmaceutical Regulation through the Strategic Vaccination Plan of Andalusia, aimed at adolescents and their families. Its main objective is to raise awareness among this sector of the population so that they get vaccinated for free at health centers.
The percentage by year of birth is currently 88.65% in those born in 2002, 90.29% in those born in 2003, 92.68 in those born in 2004, 96.10% in those born in 2005 , 96.79% among the natives of 2006, of 2007 it has been inoculated to 96.8% of the population, from 2008 to 98.08%, from 2009 to 97.40%, from the year 2010 to 97, 32% of those born in that year and from 2011 to 92.77%.
This action has a double purpose: to protect this population in an age group that is particularly vulnerable to this infection and to reduce the number of carriers of the bacteria and, therefore, to help prevent the bacteria from being transmitted to other people. #ZeroMeningitis has a language that is very close to adolescents, using the communication channels that they usually use.
The #ZeroMeningitis campaign for adolescents that nothing stops you is part of the ANDAVAC vaccine training and updating project (www.andavac.es), a word formed by the terms Andalusia and vaccines, which aims to improve the knowledge about vaccines of more than 14,000 professionals Andalusian toilets in the coming years.
