The municipality of Almere is going to cut five trees at a shopping center because vandals have stripped them of their bark. The trees cannot be saved anymore.
It is not clear who the perpetrators are and how they proceeded. A local resident declines Flevoland broadcaster that she heard a lot of noise around midnight. “It sounded like a group of guys were hitting something.”
The neighborhood reacts devastated to the action. “I am very shocked. This is not normal. Who is doing this?”, Says a local resident. “Let them recover the damage from the perpetrators,” says another.
The municipality is investigating the case together with the police and youth workers. The municipality will also have an overview of the extent of the financial damage.
