The major renovation of Almere Centrum train station has not resulted in train passengers giving the station a higher rating. This is evident from the annual Station Experience Monitor of the NS and ProRail. Train passengers rate the renovated station with a 6.8.
The renovation was a major job that included tackling the squares in front of and behind the station and renewing the facades of the station building. The renovation was completed a year ago, but the score last year was exactly the same as during the renovation the year before.

Dronten scores best
Dronten scores the highest of all stations in Flevoland. Dronten station receives an average of 7.04. “It is a beautiful, new station. Good agreements have been made together with the municipality to keep the station beautiful and clean,” says the station manager of Dronten station. A year earlier, Dronten had an even better score. At that time, travelers rated the station there with a 7.5.
Almere Poort and Lelystad Centrum performed a lot less in 2023. The two stations are in the lower regions of the national rankings with 6.42 and 6.39 respectively.
Lelystad wants to improve
Improvements are planned for Lelystad Center. Station manager Mattijs Peters says: “We are going to create a waiting area at the station where travelers can pleasantly wait for their train. This waiting area will be placed in the central hall. The municipality also plans to renovate the bus square in early 2025. We will then install the bicycle sheds. of Lelystad Centrum station. It is also planned to tackle the floor of the station so that the station gets a fresh look again.”
Actually, no Flevoland station does well the research. Of the 393 rated stations, not a single station from our province is in the ‘left row’. Dronten only appears at place 230.
Limburg station tops the list
The best-rated station in the Netherlands is Klimmen-Ransdaal in Limburg. This station received an 8.7 from travelers last year, achieving the highest score ever for a station since the annual rating has been measured.
Travelers appreciate this station because of its beautiful location in the hilly landscape and because of the monumental station building from 1913 with restaurant and terrace on the platform.

Lage Zwaluwe station in North Brabant finished in last place with a 4.6. Despite improvements, such as renewal of the platform and lighting, travelers continue to find the station lacking in atmosphere. The station is also located a considerable distance from the village and next to the highway.
