Almazán’s response to the Women’s Race

Almazán has responded this Sunday to the call for the second edition of the Race for Women, a solidarity activity for the benefit of the Spanish Association Against Cancer.

About five hundred people have signed up for this call organized by the CD-. Globeros, with the intention of raising funds to fight cancer.

The morning session has elapsed between a race through the Arboleda park, with a five-kilometre run, and a 2.5-kilometre march.

The president of the Soria delegation of the AECC, Jesús Aguarón, thanked the call made by Almazán, to combat the scourge of cancer that, far from being reduced, “is getting worse”, due to the greater longevity of people and also of the longest survival of patients with this disease.

Research and financial resources are what is needed to continue advancing against cancer.

“Everything that is done in research is investing in health. And of course it is important to promote much more prevention ”, he highlighted.

Aguarón has pointed out that there are not many differences globally between men and women affected by the different types of cancer, although there are some specific ones for each gender.

In preventing and fighting breast cancer, it is the one that has invested the most in recent years. And it has managed to increase survival above 80 percent.

Regarding the care of cancer patients in Soria, Aguarón has estimated that the assistance at the Santa Bárbara hospital is not deficient.

Aguarón has asked that the deadlines given by the Minister of Health, Alejandro Vázquez, in his last visit to the hospital, be met, so that the radiotherapy unit becomes a reality in 2026.

Around two hundred cancer patients a year are treated at the Santa Bárbara hospital.
