Allrounder Bosker becomes a teammate of competitors Kramer and Roest | NOW

Marcel Bosker made the switch to Jumbo-Visma on Wednesday. The 23-year-old skater becomes a teammate of his competitors Sven Kramer and Patrick Roest.

“I am very happy to play for the best skating team in the world for the next two seasons,” said Bosker, who signed up to the 2022 Beijing Olympics, on the Jumbo-Visma site.

The all-rounder drove for TalentNED in the last two years. That team will no longer exist next winter.

Bosker became European team pursuit champion together with Roest and Kramer last season. At the World Championship distances in Salt Lake City, he won gold in this part, just like in 2019, with Kramer and Douwe de Vries.

The Swiss-born skater, who won bronze in the 2018 World Allround Championship, hopes to join the world top with his new team on individual distances. “In my opinion, Marcel has what it takes to grow to the level of Sven and Patrick”, says coach Jac Orie.

Bosker is the first acquisition of Jumbo-Visma for the coming season. Orie’s team says goodbye to retired Jan Smeekens and De Vries, while Sven Kramer extended his contract by two years last week.
