(Elbil24): Later this year, Polestar will phase out the production of its high-performance hybrid Polestar 1. The car is a very exclusive sedan that can offer a range of 123 kilometers on battery power, 609 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque, as well as a body with extensive use of carbon fiber .

And the price? From 1,665,000 kroner – that is, in a completely different price range than the all-electric Polestar 2.

In connection with the production now entering the final phase, the company has allocated five copies of the car that cannot be bought with money. These you can only claw at, by exchanging it for art you had to sit on, either self-produced or in your possession in other ways.

– I love the idea of buying a Polestar 1 with art. The car is special, and we wanted to find a unique way to celebrate it before production closes, says Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.

The initiative is a collaboration with art consultant Theodor Dalenson, who has been given responsibility for assessing the art that you may wish to exchange for a car.

Polestar’s Norwegian communications manager, Kristin Fjeld, informs Elbil24 that you can “pay” with up to three works of art, and that all forms of art, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, installations and more, will be evaluated.

It should not be possible to use money as “partial financing”.

If Dalenson finds that your art is relevant enough, a value estimate will be made of the two large auction houses Sotheby’s and Philips. And if it’s worth it, then one of the five cars can be yours.

However, Polestar makes no secret of the fact that it is not charity they are doing. After a period of ownership, the intention is to resell the art via the above auction house or through the dealers who represent the artists.

The initiative runs until 15 August, and there could possibly be many on the leg – because it applies to both Europe and North America.
