Dressed to the nines, Helga, Herr Flick and Lieutenant Grüber arrived on Saturday afternoon in Westkerke, a sub-municipality of Oudenburg. They were there to sign bottles of Picon de Souvion. “The picon was made by the bartender of café The Newport Times in Nieuwpoort, my own café,” says Bert Gunst, friend of the manager of the supermarket and first alderman in Nieuwpoort.
“I taught the actors of the British hit series Allo Allo! a few years ago at a fair and I brought them to Nieuwpoort several times,” says Bert. “I know the manager of this Delhaize quite well and that’s how we came up with the idea of bringing the three to Westkerke. Picon de Souvion refers to the town where everything in the series takes place. Hence the link.” A total of about 500 bottles were signed by the three actors on Saturday.
