“Alligator Sunbathing on Alabama Beach: Tourist Captures Viral Video and Photos”

Jakarta

An unforgettable experience experienced by tourists who are enjoying the beach in summer. He suddenly met an alligator sunbathing on the beach.

This shocking incident occurred in Alabama, United States of America. Matt Harvill (27) accidentally met an alligator on May 7.

He realized the presence of the reptile while taking a photo with his girlfriend. The alligator looks calm enjoying the waves and sunlight as if he were sunbathing. Because it looks relaxed, a number of people ventured to take a closer look at its appearance.

“He didn’t hiss or open his mouth at all,” Harvill was quoted as saying Associated PressSunday (21/5/2023).

“It’s like he’s kind of watching and seeing what’s going on.”

Harvill then took photos and videotaped the alligator to show his family and friends. He posted it to Facebook and it went viral.

“Things you thought you’d never see,” he wrote in the caption.

“First time seeing alligators on Dauphin Island. Heading to the far west be careful y’all,” he wrote again.

Harvill said he had seen things like jellyfish or dark fins slicing the Gulf waters, but never an alligator.

“I don’t want to step foot in the water after that!” he said.

Alligators are actually easy to find throughout Alabama especially in saltwater bays and estuaries, said Marianne Gauldin, outreach coordinator for the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

“It’s not uncommon to see them in the Gulf of Mexico as they can tolerate varying degrees of salinity,” he said by email.

“They are aquatic creatures and travel long distances when they search for prey,” he said again.
