ALLIANCE GREENS to the Corona Investigation Committee

Today the request of the AfD parliamentary group to establish a Corona investigation committee was discussed in the Saxon state parliament. This was submitted with the votes of the AfD parliamentary group and a large part of the BSW parliamentary group. After this the request of the BSW parliamentary group to establish a Corona investigation committee was dealt with. This was rejected by all other groups.

Valentin LippmannParliamentary Executive Director of the ALLIANCE 90/THE GREENS parliamentary group in the Saxon state parliament, explains:

“Regarding the corona pandemic, there is no need for a tribunal, but a real investigation. As the GREENS ALLIANCE, we therefore believe that the instrument of an investigation committee is inadequate and we have rejected the applications from the AfD and BSW.”

“It is our duty as sensible politicians to ensure that we are better prepared in the future than we were last time. We owe this especially to the younger generation, who grew up in constant crisis. Just for this purpose, an investigative committee is about as suitable as a hammer and sickle for morning shaving. A commission of inquiry is the appropriate place to investigate the decisions and mistakes of the corona pandemic. We should work scientifically and across party lines to prepare Saxony for future crises. “

“Today’s BSW voting behavior is a heavy burden to the blackberry coalition you want. Instead of supporting the coalition partners CDU and SPD in their bid for a commission of inquiry, BSW voted together with the AfD for a committee of inquiry. Trustworthy collaboration looks different.“
