Alleged Police Visits to PDIP Office in Palu: Concerns of Neutrality Violations

Jakarta

Legal Deputy National Winning Team (TPN) Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md, Todung Mulya Lubis, admitted that he received a report that the PDIP office in Palu, Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi) was visited by the police while an internal party event was taking place. He received the report from PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto.

“Earlier I received news that Hasto Kristiyanto, Secretary General of PDIP, who last week paid a visit to Palu, on a working visit, was giving a briefing at the DPC PDIP Palu. So when he did that, the DPC PDIP Palu office was visited by 8 police officers. That’s PDIP internal event,” said Todung at the Media Center TPN Ganjar-MahfudJalan Cemara Number 19, Jakarta, Tuesday (21/11/2023).

He also said he received information about the presence of police intelligence members at an internal party meeting. Todung Mulya Lubis emphasized that this could not be allowed.

“They entered the room, some were outside. But previously there were also those who came to the PDIP DPD office there, and it is said that there was intelligence sitting there at the PDIP meeting in Palu,” said Todung.

“In my opinion, things like this may not be widely reported, but they are felt by many parties. This cannot be ignored because there are already other stories, reports or other news about violations of neutrality,” he explained.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo previously also responded to issues related to the neutrality of the National Police. He emphasized that the National Police maintains neutrality and will take action against its members who do not maintain neutrality in the election.

Regarding reports of alleged violations of neutrality by police officers, the former Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police asked the public to report them. Sigit said that reporting should be accompanied by evidence of alleged violations.

“And if you have questions, if someone has violated that commitment? Yes, please report it, of course we will process it. However, it would be best if there was sufficient evidence, not just framing, not just an issue, but also sufficient evidence,” said Sigit at the Vice President’s Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (14/11).
