Police in Albuquerque, USA are investigating an alleged death threat from UFC champion Jon Jones. The cage fighter is said to have threatened two doping controllers with death.

That happened on March 30, when an unannounced doping test took place at Jones’ home. “Why do you guys come so early? You know what happens to people who just come to my house? They die,” Jones allegedly said, according to the police report.

The 36-year-old Jones is the heavyweight champion of the UFC, the largest combat sports association in the world. In his turbulent career he was suspended three times, twice for doping violations.

Endangered

During the doping test at the end of March, according to the inspectors of Drug Free Sport, Jones initially showed a sympathetic attitude. After failing to urinate, the doping inspectors suggested taking a blood test.

Jones is said to have reacted agitated and tense. He took the phone from a female doping control officer and made a video with it. The video, which is in the hands of the police, allegedly shows a serious altercation.

Jones stood a few inches from the inspectors, who felt threatened. The alleged death threat was only made after filming had stopped.

‘Friendly’

Eventually, Jones calmed down and provided a urine sample. In a message on Instagram he contradicts the accusation.

“The unprofessionalism of the inspectors was frustrating to me, but in the end we parted amicably. There were no threats,” the cage fighter wrote.

To back that up, he posted a video from a surveillance camera showing him in his driveway with a high five says goodbye to the inspectors.
