The origin of the virus

Nipah is one of the 10 infectious diseases identified by the World Health Organization as the greatest threat to public health, especially in light of the unwillingness of major global pharmaceutical companies to respond.

The virus was first discovered in Kampung Songhai Nipah, Malaysia in 1998, and it infected the nervous and respiratory systems of 265 people, of whom 115 died, and it is most likely transmitted by bats, a type of flying foxes that are found in China, Guinea, Southeast Asia and Australia.

The “Nipah” virus is contagious, and it causes a mortality rate of 75%, and its original vector is the fruit bat, as the outbreak in Bangladesh and India has been linked to drinking Date palm juice.
