If you are one of those who knew and appreciated the Porsche 356 America Roadster 70 years ago (only 16 examples) or the 964 bearing the same name launched almost 40 years later, then you will most likely like the 911 Carrera GTS edition America 2023. This very limited series (the number of copies that will be produced has not been specified but Porsche has specified that it “will be one of the rarest of the Type-992 models”) will make its debut in North American dealerships towards the end of 2022. In other words, it’s going to have to come a long way if you want to treat yourself to this piece of America.

America, I want to have it…

Like the previous America models, this somewhat special 911 is only available in a Cabriolet version. As its name suggests, it takes over the 6-cylinder flat 3.0 turbo of 480 hp and 570 Nm of the GTS variant. No progress here. But dedicated to driving pleasure, the 7-speed manual gearbox (yes, yes!) is imposed. It is equipped as standard with the sports suspension lowered by 10 mm or the sports exhaust. And if the addition of 206,190 Canadian dollars (about 153,180 €) does not scare you, perhaps you will be tempted to opt for the rear steering wheels or the ceramic brakes as an extra. As much as the 356 America Roadster was rather stripped down in its genre, the 911 is rather flirtatious. The look is neat with specially treated RS Spyder rims, an “America” ​​sticker along the doors, a black interior with red cross-stitch stitching or elements of the same color, door sills bearing the mention “70 Years America Roadster”.
