Srdjan Spiridonovic no longer follows the call of money. After just eight games, the Austrian is terminating his contract with Saudi Arabian second division club Hajer FC.
“The money was no longer worth it to me, as time went on I couldn’t bear it anymore,” the 30-year-old said at the “Krone” quoted. The former Austria and Admira kicker was offered an annual salary of $500,000.
“Speedy” was the first Austrian to move to Saudi Arabia in the summer. The offensive player signed a one-year contract with Hajer FC.
“A life there just isn’t for me”
After just a few months, the separation follows. The reason is not financial, but rather the climatic conditions and everyday life in the desert state. In Al Hofuf, where Spiridonovic owned an apartment, daytime temperatures were almost 50 degrees. That’s why training only took place after sunset.
“The heat cannot be expressed in words, you are just a passenger. Which is why I slept until the afternoon and went to bed very late. I became very tired mentally.
