All the hidden treasures of your home appraised by the Galerie de Chartres, this Wednesday

It is an annual meeting which attracts, each time, its share of curious people…

As part of the national days of expertise, organized by the group Ivoire France, of which the Galerie de Chartres is a part, owners of objects rushed, this Wednesday, January 25, equipped with a multitude of treasures to be estimated by the experts present at the sales area, at Le Coudray.

From the start of the morning, Denis and his son, who had come from the Drouaise agglomeration, waited to submit a few potential nuggets. Tokens, reproduction coins, jewelery and a few comic strips are about to be examined, under the watchful eye of experts. “We have had these few objects at home for several years and we wanted to know what they could be worth”, smiles Denis, while awaiting the verdict…

Big success of the auction of wine bottles in Chartres

Who will not be the one expected, for the few copies of comic books. “Unfortunately, it’s not old enough for it to be interesting,” regrets Caroline Rivière, auctioneer at the Galerie de Chartres, specializing in old toys. “These copies should be a little more dated and above all, there should be more volumes.”

“However, I was on the verge of throwing it away…”

No nice surprise for Denis and his son, but a little further in the room, it’s a whole electric train that Caroline Rivière is going to appraise. “It was my husband’s train when he was a kid. I’m gutting and selling the house we lived in and I was about to throw it away, but my friends told me not to. especially not to do it”, confides this Eurélienne, who came to glean some advice.

And obviously, she did well to keep it. “These are batches of the classic Hornby and Jep brands, which resell very well”, announces Caroline Rivière. “In addition, all the pieces are in their original box, which really makes the difference today, with collectors.”

The toy, which once made her husband happy, is finally estimated “between 700 and 1,000 €” by the expert. “I really did well to listen to my friends,” jokes the retiree, who may have the pleasant surprise of seeing this sum increase, during the auction which will take place in several weeks.

“That’s the whole point of this day. Usually, we organize meetings every Wednesday to welcome visitors with their objects, but here, the most thing is to be able to meet the experts directly and avoid that the objects are sent to Paris. This considerably reduces the time for people, who leave directly with an estimate.”
