All Spanish blue flag beaches in 2018

Spain will shine next summer a total of 696 blue flags on beaches, marinas and sustainable boats and will maintain with that number the first place in this world ranking, which accredits the good state of conservation and the quality of the services provided by these places.

The data has been released in Madrid by the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (Adeac) – the Spanish section of the European Federation for Environmental Education – and reveals that the number of blue flags has grown by 12 with respect to the figures for the last year.

A total of 590 beaches (11 more than last year), 101 marinas (1 more than in 2017) and 5 sustainable tourist boats (three from Mallorca and two from Malaga) will display this banner in Spain.

The number of participating coastal municipalities this edition has been 252 (5 more than last year) of which 236 have obtained a banner blue (number equal to 2017), the president of the Adeac, José Ramón Sánchez, has pointed out, to emphasize that the fidelity index is very high, 65% of the awarded beaches have been 10 years or more and 20% between 5 and 10 years.

By autonomous communities, it leads the number of beaches with flag blue the Valencian Community, with 132 brands (3 more than in 2017), followed by Galicia, with 109 (4 less,) and Catalonia, with 101 (6 more than last year).
