All 130 residents were tested on Friday. Then there came 25 positive infections forward. Previously, residents had also tested positive, says De Breij now.
“This is a bit of a shock”
“We are doing all we can to continue care,” says De Breij. “Most residents who are infected have no or mild complaints. But this is a bit of a shock.”
The guidance must be sharp, says De Breij. “The target group is not always able to report the complaints themselves.” That is also the reason that the board has decided to test all residents. “It may be that people without complaints are contagious. That appears to be the case now.”
The residents who are infected are treated on site. Some in their own room, and others in a cohort ward. OlmenEs has three of them.
