All 25 safety regions in the Netherlands had so many positive corona tests between Saturday morning and Sunday morning that they exceeded the so-called signal value on the crownedhboard came out. It is the first time since the dashboard was developed that every region ended above that limit.
In recent weeks there was at least one area every day that still remained below the border, usually Zeeland and South Limburg.
The signal value is set by the government between the first and second corona wave. If the number of infections in an area rises above 7 per 100,000 inhabitants, measures would be necessary to stop the spread of the virus. Such restrictions have already been set in more than half of the country.
Zeeland had 51 positive tests between Saturday morning and Sunday morning. This equates to 13.3 corona cases for every 100,000 Zeelanders. This is a record for the province. The old record was only set last Thursday, when Zeeland had 29 positive tests.
South Limburg had relatively the lowest number of infections in the Netherlands on Sunday. There, 48 cases were discovered, which equates to 8 positive tests per 100,000 inhabitants.
Amsterdam-Amstelland leads the way with new positive tests
Amsterdam-Amstelland had by far the most positive tests on Sunday. In and around the capital, 539 people were tested positive, which equates to 50.3 per 100,000 inhabitants. That is not a record, because on September 27, Amsterdam-Amstelland reported 540 positive tests. The Haaglanden region counted 41.5 positive tests per 100,000 citizens on Sunday and 36.9 infections per 100,000 people were detected in Rotterdam-Rijnmond.
This was followed by Hollands Midden (28.1), Utrecht (24.8), Gelderland-South (22.8), Central and West Brabant (22.1), Kennemerland (21.5), Gooi and Vechtstreek (21 , 4), Zaanstreek-Waterland (20.3) and Groningen (20).
Across the Netherlands, 4007 positive tests were registered between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, a new daily record. That comes down to 23 cases per 100,000 Dutch people. It is the 21st consecutive day that the Netherlands is above the signal value. On September 13, the Netherlands had less than 7 infections per 100,000 civilians for the last time.
