All parties, except Vox, will create a rebuilding commission in Valncia

All the parties of the Plenary of the City Council of Valencia have joined today the agreement to constitute in seven days a reconstruction commission for the city by the covid-19. All except Vox, who has abstained, in a debate in which he has not contributed a single proposal or amendment, as PP and Cs have done. The approved commission will analyze the causes of the current crisis and propose short-term solutions, apart from the 66 that were agreed with the Joan Ribó government team a few weeks ago.

PP and Cs have joined the agreement with Compromís and PSPV, but before they have had significant reproaches to the government team, some about the crisis itself and others that had little to do, such as the pedestrianization of the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. The PP has managed to get the government team to accept 7 partial amendments, while they have rejected two others, the same ones to which they have said no to Citizens.

The most angry in the debate was precisely the spokesman for Ciudadanos, Fernando Giner, who regretted that the government team did not want to give a voice “to all civil society that wants to participate in the reconstruction commission without passing the filter of political groups »and that the budget already include this year a specific item to combat the effects of covid. But both Mayor Joan Ribó and Compromís spokesman, Carlos Galiana, have reminded Giner that any entity agreed between the groups will be able to participate and that a work plan is necessary “because otherwise the commission could collapse.”

The PP spokeswoman, María José Catalá, despite her support for the commission, has demanded that it not serve “to whiten the attitude of the mayor or any other person” and has announced that the first person they are going to ask to appear is the consellera from Sanitat, Ana Barceló. Meanwhile, the representative of Vox, José Gosálbez, has demanded that the funds destined for the climate emergency be withdrawn and allocated to the coronavirus, something that the other groups reject.

Deputy Mayor Sandra Gómez, spokesperson for the PSPV, explained the three axes that the commission should have: «A healthier city, gaining public space and in safety conditions; secondly, the challenge of leaving no one behind, we are going to suffer a second great economic crisis, the second in 12 years, with a drama for youth employment or discrimination against women; Thirdly, we have to strengthen the economic engine, provide liquidity and solutions to companies. “

Carlos Galiana, Compromís spokesperson, pointed out that the commission has to work “together” because “it is an opportunity”, for which reason it has asked the rest of the groups for responsibility assuming that they do not have “carte blanche” in the management of this crisis and he recalled a few words from the PP leader in which he offered to work loyally for the city. In this sense, Mayor Joan Ribó, speaking to Catalá, has told him that no party “has to renounce its ideological position, but we have to find common ground to advance, but we will not achieve it by raising the dialectical tension,” that the PP spokeswoman has replied “loyalty is not submission”, a phrase that President Ximo Puig uttered.

Catalá has again brought up the debate the absence of the mayor at the meeting that decided to cancel the Fallas, for which Galiana replied: «The mayor has already left the opera; get out of the operetta ».
