All of Upper Franconia is a “digital educational region”

State Secretary for Culture Anna Stolz has awarded the “Digital Educational Region” seal of quality to all rural districts and independent cities in Upper Franconia. The Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture announced this.

“That is a strong signal for the digital change in the region.” Anna Stolz, State Secretary of Culture

Educational regions develop into “digital educational aggregations”

The “Digital Educational Regions” are a further development of the “Educational Regions in Bavaria” initiative. The Bavarian educational regions can and should use their existing regional networks and structures. There are now 37 “digital educational regions” in the Free State. “Our educational regions connect people of all generations. They create tailor-made educational offers on site, strengthen educational and participation opportunities in the region and bring together everyone who is committed to education,” said State Secretary Anna Stolz (FW).

“In order to cope with the challenge posed by demographic change, we need an attractive educational landscape for the Upper Franconian population and for the families of the urgently needed skilled workers. Digital education is a key issue with all the opportunities for children and young people in rural areas.” Heidrun Piwernetz, District President of Upper Franconia

The initiative aims to increase educational and participation opportunities

The “Educational Regions in Bavaria” initiative was launched in 2012 to further increase the educational and participation opportunities of young people on site – from kindergarten to school and then to professional life or the start of studies. The core of the initiative is the networking of the actors in the region in order to further develop and expand offers.

Digital aggregations of education

The aim of the Digital Educational Region initiative, launched in 2018, is to design one’s own educational landscape in such a way that young people can find their way around a digitized world and can participate in the developments of the digital age as best as possible. A prerequisite is a heightened awareness of the importance of the topic of “digital education” among all actors, especially when it comes to open and networked cooperation and the provision of the technical requirements.
