Tangerang, CNN Indonesia —
Toyota get moving the third generation that slid some time ago ended my curiosity about the changes that occurred. This new generation of Avanza also indicates that Toyota has officially separated the Avanza and Veloz.
Veloz, which used to be the model or the highest variant of the Avanza, is now a different story, which is that it is made to stand alone to attract different segments.
But for this time I will not talk much about Veloz. But on the other side of the Avanza, which now comes with a new story through a short test drive on the sidelines of the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2021.
Avanza has experienced ups and downs in sales since 2004, until the second generation was launched in 2011. Entering the third generation Avanza the design changed and the rear motion system was moved to the front. How does driving Avanza feel? Check out the following reviews.
New Avanza exterior
The outer side of the product, known as the car of a million people, I admit, is much more interesting than the previous two generations. The sides, back, and front are all completely overhauled. While the front seems thick with the Raize design.
The overall design also makes the Avanza more muscular and masculine like a medium SUV.
But technically, the new Avanza is at the same time undergoing a size adjustment. This Avanza has increased 7 cm in width and 20 cm in length. Then the height is made lower by 40 cm even though the ground clearance becomes 205 mm from the previous 197 mm.
While the rims still use a size of 16 inches, different from Veloz which has adopted 17-inch rims.
The new Avanza platform has also been replaced and is now called the Full Engine Platform – Front Wheel Drive (FF). The FF platform is claimed to make the Avanza more stable and there is also a new suspension setting which is said to make this car smoother and quieter.
New Avanza interior
I am impressed with the changes to the latest Avanza. Incidentally, the Avanza that I use is the highest variant, namely 1.5G CVT TSS. Without PPnBM, this variant is sold for Rp. 264.4 million.
TSS itself is an abbreviation of Toyota Safety Sense or a package of safety features from Toyota.
The difference from the interior is clearly visible starting from the new head unit which is in a higher position, the air conditioner is digital, to the interior color with a combination of two colors.
Then sitting behind the wheel also feels the difference. For the driver with a height of 180 cm, sitting in the cockpit feels comfortable and ergonomic.
Oh yes, my view of the future while sitting on the new Avanza is clearly very different from when driving the previous version. The seat feels lower, but it doesn’t interfere with forward visibility.
