All is well, says ‘tourist crew’ SpaceX rocket

“Everything is going well,” tweeted billionaire Elon Musk, chief executive of the company behind the space journey SpaceX.

The spacecraft with four civilians on board took off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. Since then, the rocket has circled the Earth at a distance of up to 590 kilometers at a speed of about 28,000 kilometers per hour. Every day the crew members see 15 sunrises and sunsets.

The rocket is further from Earth’s surface than the International Space Station, which orbits the Earth 420 kilometers away.

There are currently 14 people in space with the arrival of the four citizens – a new record. Seven people are on board the ISS, including two Russian cosmonauts. Three Chinese astronauts are elsewhere in space and aboard the SpaceX rocket are 38-year-old billionaire Jared Isaacman, who paid for the flight, along with three people he brought with him.

After spending about three days in space, the crew members of the SpaceX rocket return to Earth. The craft then plunges, suspended from a parachute, into the Atlantic Ocean.
