With a new campaign, the metropolis of New York, which has been badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic, is gradually trying to attract tourists again.
Under the motto “All in New York”, which in German can mean “Everything in New York”, but also “Everything for New York”, the residents of the metropolitan region should first be tempted to explore their homeland more extensively, like the NYC & Company Tourism Board announced. Later on, regional, supraregional, nationwide and then international visitors will be addressed again – all with an emphasis on distance and hygiene rules.
The campaign is an “important first step” in the “not to be underestimated challenge of rebuilding tourism,” said Fred Dixon. “The recovery in tourism will be gradual, but it will come.”
Tourism collapsed
Since relatively strict restrictions on public life were imposed in March on the metropolis, which has been badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic, tourism has largely collapsed. Currently, the restrictions are gradually being relaxed, but many attractions such as the theaters on Broadway have already announced that they will not reopen until 2021. In addition, extensive entry restrictions apply to many countries.
