“All in New York”: City wants to attract tourists again

The metropolis of New York, which has been severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic, wants to attract tourists again with a campaign.

Under the motto “All in New York”, the residents of the urban region themselves are initially to be tempted to explore their homeland more extensively, as the tourism authority NYC & Company announced – everything with an emphasis on distance and hygiene rules.

The campaign is an “important first step” in the “challenge of rebuilding tourism, which should not be underestimated,” said Fred Dixon. “The recovery in tourism will be gradual, but it will come.”

Broadway won’t open again until 2021

Since relatively strict restrictions on public life were imposed on the metropolis, which has been badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic, in March, tourism has largely collapsed. Currently, the restrictions are gradually being relaxed, but many attractions such as the theaters on Broadway have already announced that they will not reopen until 2021. In addition, extensive entry restrictions apply to many countries.

In 2019, New York’s tourism industry, which employs around 400,000 people, grew for the tenth year in a row. Almost 67 million people had visited the city. For this year, the tourism authority, which had to release a large part of its employees, does not even want to present a forecast.
