Hogwarts Legacy takes players back to the Wizarding World in the year 1800, and there are plenty of old and new faces to bump into on the grounds of the iconic school. Here are all the confirmed characters so far.
Hogwarts Legacy is an aspiring wizard’s dream come true, allowing you to explore the Harry Potter universe like never before. After a long period of silence from the developers at Portkey Games, we have finally received a full reveal of the game, which is fast becoming one of the biggest releases of 2022.
As well as dazzling spells to learn and fantastical creatures to track down, Hogwarts Legacy has plenty of memorable characters to interact with. Unfortunately, as the game is set 100 years before the books and movies, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are nowhere to be seen.
But their absence is made up for by a new cast of teachers and students, as well as some familiar faces. Here are all the new and returning characters we meet in Hogwarts Legacy.
New characters in Hogwarts Legacy
Professor Eleazar Fig.
Fig seems friendly, but are his theories true?–
Eleazar Fig is a respected professor on the Hogwarts campus, and plays a pivotal role in the player character’s story throughout the game. play. Fig investigates rumors that the Goblins are planning a rebellion and that the fate of the Wizarding World hangs in the balance.
He is described as a character “enigmatic”, who appears to be an ally of the player, despite some skepticism from the Ministry of Magic.
Ranrok
Ranrok’s rebellion will be a key plot throughout the game.–
Ranrok is one of the main antagonists of Hogwarts Legacy. It is rumored that he leads a goblin rebellion against all mankind. He has magical abilities of his own, which makes him a formidable foe for even the strongest sorcerer.
His goal is to claim a mysterious form of magic for himself and use it, along with his burning hatred, to eradicate witches and wizards once and for all.
Victor Rookwood
Rookwood is a Dark Wizard, but his past and motivations remain a mystery.–

Another major threat in the game, Victor Rookwood is a Dark Wizard who has temporarily allied himself with Ranrok and the rogue Goblins. Although they seem to be working towards a common goal, their alliance is far from stable.
It’s unclear from the trailers we’ve seen so far what Victor’s motivations are in the long run, but they sure do pose a danger to the player.
Deek
Would it really be Harry Potter without a house elf?–
Deek, a beloved house elf who works to keep Hogwarts running, is the key to one of the most interesting systems in the game.
With the help of Deek, players can access the Room of Requirement and customize their own vivariums filled with buildings, plants, and mystical creatures.
Hogwarts students
Players can interact with their peers and make friends.–
In addition to various professors and powerful threats, our wizard or witch will also have the opportunity to interact with other Hogwarts students.
Only three have been revealed so far by March’s State of Play, they are:
- Natsai Onai – “A brave adventurer driven by the justice she seeks.”
- Poppy Sweeting – «He has a kind heart and loves magical beasts, connecting with them more easily than with humans».
- Sebastian Sallow – «Without fear of punishment or breaking the rules, Sebastian is a charismatic Slytherin with a disturbing family secret.»
Returning Characters in Hogwarts Legacy
Nearly Headless Nick
Harry Potter fans almost lost their minds after the reveal of this character.–
Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, better known as Nearly Headless Nick, is a very popular character among Potterheads, appearing in many of the original Harry Potter films.
The friendly ghost will reappear in Hogwarts Legacy, although it doesn’t look like John Cleese will reprise his role. At the moment, it is not clear if Nick will have a significant role in the story, or if it will simply serve as a nod to long-time fans.
Cuthbert Bins
Hogwarts Legacy adapts characters from both the books and the movies.–

Although he never appeared in any of the feature films, the name Cuthbert Bins will be familiar to fans of the books. Bins is a veteran Hogwarts professor, teaching History of Magic long after his death.
His classes may have been notoriously boring, but that didn’t stop him from mentoring James and Lily Potter, Peter Pettigrew and Serius Black, as well as Harry, Ron and Hermoine in later years.
