ACCEPTANCE – Former Prime Minister (PM) Afghanistan Gulbuddin Hekmatyar said a future Taliban-led government in Afghanistan would have the support of all ethnic groups.

“Such a government can stop further bloodshed in Afghanistan and steer the war-torn country out of the current crisis,” he said in an interview with Pakistan’s state news agency, APP.

He hoped formal talks between all political groups would begin after the full withdrawal of US and NATO troops from Afghanistan, scheduled for August 31.

“Afghan people have been tired of long conflicts and fighting, want to bring peace and stability to the war-torn country and collectively work for its reconstruction and progress,” Heklmatyar said, adding the Afghan people are determined to progress collectively.

After quickly taking control of the administrative district and the province’s smaller center, Taliban fighters entered the Afghan capital Kabul on August 15 and seized power, taking over the country for the first time in nearly 20 years.

The government quickly disbanded, with President Ashraf Ghani and other key officials fleeing to safety abroad.

So far, the Taliban has declared a general amnesty for civil servants, encouraged women to participate in its prospective government, and promised Afghan soil would not become a springboard to the detriment of any country.
