CEO and veterinarian of the Animal Hospital Aist Olli Saalasti warns dog owners about products made from foreign meat. For now, all products made from foreign meat should be avoided.
Helsingin Sanomat reported on the matter.
According to Saalasti, dogs suffering from neurological symptoms still arrive at receptions for treatment. The topic surfaced when veterinarians reported symptoms caused by Hau Hau chew rolls.
– In addition, we are aware of cases where identical symptoms have been caused by similar delicacies from other manufacturers, Saalasti tells HS.
Aisti is the only veterinary hospital in Finland with a neurological emergency department. It is located in Vantaa.
Saalasti suspects that the background may be raw materials originating from the same factory, which have been further processed in the factories of different companies.
Prima Pet Premium, which owns Hau Hau, announced that it will reimburse the veterinary expenses of dogs suspected of having symptoms from Hau Hau chewing gum.
The dog owner interviewed by HS suspects that his dog got sick from being bitten in mid-October. The company said in October that the Food Agency’s investigations found no reasons for the dogs’ neurological symptoms.
