The Minister of the Economy also called on companies to seize the Macron bonus and the profit-sharing and participation mechanisms if they cannot increase wages.
While inflation accelerated again in July, to 6.1% over one year, Bruno Le Maire reiterated his call on Friday for companies to increase wages to preserve the purchasing power of the French:
“All the companies that can must raise wages. I have been saying this for several weeks, many of them did it last spring. Many of them are preparing to do it again at the start of the school year, c is necessary”, declared the Minister of the Economy at the end of the Council of Ministers.
Macron bonus and employee savings
Those who would be reluctant to do so for fear of being in difficulty in a few months can use “the Macron bonus which has been increased to 6,000 euros” and is “totally exempt from tax”, indicated Bruno Le Maire, adding that this device is “an additional remuneration which is extremely appreciable for all employees in these difficult times”.
The Bercy tenant also promoted profit-sharing and participation, “social justice mechanisms that all companies must develop, without exception, both small and large”, in order “to directly involve employees in the results of the company”.
