All bodies recovered from plane crash in Brazil

Rescuers in Brazil have found all 62 bodies that were victims of a plane crash on Friday. It concerns 34 men and 28 women, all Brazilian. Four victims have dual nationality: three Venezuelans and a Portuguese woman.

Most of the bodies were taken to a mortuary in Sao Paulo for identification. The bodies of the pilot and co-pilot have already been identified.

To identify the bodies, authorities look at seat assignments, physical characteristics, documents and property such as mobile phones. The black box was found yesterday. This is now being investigated.

The three Venezuelans are a 4-year-old boy, his mother and his grandmother, reports the Brazilian newspaper O Globo. The boy’s dog was also on board the plane.

The 14-year-old plane from Brazilian airline Voepass was on a domestic flight from Cascavel, a city in southwest Brazil, to Guarulhos, a city north of Sao Paulo. The plane had problems about 80 kilometers from the airport, after which it crashed in a residential area.

Videos of a plane spinning out of the sky have been shared on social media. Then black smoke rises. There were no casualties on the ground.

The cause of the accident is still unclear. According to a Brazilian newspaper The Universe the plane lost 4,000 meters in altitude within one minute. The crash followed a few seconds later. The pilots reportedly did not send a distress signal.
