The department, the state, the region, Pôle emploi, the town hall… Many organizations help young people to finance their driving license.
In France, the average cost of passing the B license is around 1800 euros. Fortunately, there are a number of aids for young people. Established in 2005, the initiative of the “allowed to one euro per dayis the government’s flagship measure to help young people. This is a loan whose interest is borne by the State. To help young people aged 15 to 25, the State gives the possibility of borrowing 600, 800, 1000 or 1200 euros according to the estimate drawn up by your driving school. Help from Pôle Emploi
If you are registered with Employment center for at least 6 months continuously, and that you are available for employment, you can then benefit from assistance for the driving licence. This can go up to 1200 euros depending on your resources. Please note that a derogation can be provided for this second condition if you have obtained a promise of employment on a permanent or fixed-term contract of at least 3 months which requires a driving licence.
On the other hand, the Pôle Emploi platform specifies that “you must not be compensated for unemployment benefit, or be compensated for another benefit whose amount is less than or equal to that of minimum return to work allowance (ARE).
State support for apprentices
Apprentices can also be helped by the apprentice training center (CFA) provided they are at least 18 years old and hold a current apprenticeship contract. Indeed, the sum of 500 euros can be paid to you if you are preparing for the B permit. This aid can be combined with any other aid received by the apprentice.
The personal training account (CPF)
Since 2017, it is now possible to finance your code and your license thanks to the personal training account (CPF). The CPF is a platform addressed to employees. Each year, the latter accumulate credits on their CPF which can be used in the form of aid to finance training, such as a driving licence. Thus, once you have earned a sufficient number of credits (available on your personal training account), you can assert your rights to have your license financed. Just like the permit at 1 euro per day and the aid for apprentices, the financing of the permit thanks to the personal training account can be combined with other potential aid.
Help given to young reservists
There is also aid in the amount of 1000 euros for National Guard reservists. This is granted to any student who has signed a contract in the National Guard before the age of 25. In addition, assistance is only available if the student has completed at least 50 days of activity in the reserve, and his contract in the National Guard is more than 2 years from its end. Young reservists will therefore benefit from an aid of 1000 euros to pass their license.

Regional, departmental and municipal aid
In general, it is always interesting to consult the aid offered by your region, department and municipality. For example, the town hall of Puteaux offers aid of 610 euros for young graduates who have obtained their baccalaureate, CAP or BEP, and “with low resources”. Mention may also be made of the assistance provided by the Normandy region to any trainee from vocational training whose profession requires obtaining a permit. This covers 50% of the cost of the training, with a ceiling set at 600 euros.
License assistance for people with disabilities
Persons with disabilities may, in the event of obtaining or keeping a job, request assistance from theAgefiph. The latter intervenes only if the driving license is essential for the beneficiary, and can amount to up to 1000 euros.
The local missions youth aid fund
The local missions are public service organizations whose objective is to promote and support the professional integration of young people aged 16 to 25. There are nearly 450 spread over the whole of France. And it turns out that the latter offer the youth assistance fund (FAJ), financial assistance for the license for young people who need to obtain a driving license to carry out their professional project. The amount of this aid varies from 500 to 100 euros depending on the department, which finances it.
