All 684 members ‘Vuelta bubble’ test negative for corona on first day of rest | NOW

The first rest day of the Vuelta a España did not yield a single positive corona test. All 684 riders, staff members and other people in the ‘Vuelta bubble’ will therefore start on the seventh stage on Tuesday.

As in the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia, corona tests are carried out on the two rest days in the Tour of Spain. In contrast to France and Italy, no one has tested positive after the first week in Spain.

The 163 riders who are still in the race will start the seventh stage at 1.22 pm. The peloton covers 159 kilometers from Vitoria-Gasteiz to Villanueva de Valdegovia in the north of the country.

INEOS Grenadiers rider Richard Carapaz will wear the red leader’s jersey for the first time on Tuesday. The Ecuadorian took the lead in the general classification on Sunday from Jumbo-Visma leader Primoz Roglic.

November 2 is the second day of rest and all riders and staff members will be tested again. The last stage of the Vuelta is on November 8th and ends in Madrid.
