The Ministry of Education is preparing 37 experimental tests for the teacher’s license targeting three different categories of educators and administrators.
The Ministry has made available through its website 16 tests for teachers, and 21 tests are still under preparation. Early childhood teachers and special education teachers benefit from these tests, in addition to teachers of 15 different subjects: Arabic and English, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science. Computer science, technology and design, social studies, business administration, science, physical and health education, and religious education, in addition to the vocational test.
As for the category of school leaders, the Ministry prepares seven tests targeting the principal, deputy principal, senior principal, domain manager and his assistant, deputy director of academic affairs and deputy director of student affairs, for all educational cycles. School professions exams target laboratory secretaries and special needs specialists.
To obtain a teacher’s license, teachers must pass both a specialist exam and a professional exam. In the event that the test is not passed, the teacher joins a training program aimed at qualifying him and developing his qualifications according to the needs he aspires to in order to reach the targeted outputs. The training period is determined according to the teacher’s needs before undergoing a re-examination.
The Ministry has launched the educational cadres licensing system, which aims to license all workers in the education sector according to high professional and professional standards. Obtaining the license has become mandatory for teachers of public and private schools in the UAE since 2020.
The Ministry has identified eight goals that reflect the importance of licensing educational professions, which are achieving international standards in education, highlighting distinguished competencies in the educational field, continuous development of the teacher and raising the level of his competencies, and raising the level of student performance in the light of modern and international best practices. Investing the distinguished in supporting the educational process, and pushing teachers to be creative in their fields of specialization.
The Ministry organized several tests, the first of which was on January 22, targeting school leaders, teachers and special education specialists, in addition to teachers of all circles in science and technology, business administration, Arabic for non-native speakers, as well as early childhood vocational tests.
On February 15, an exam was held for teachers of the second and third cycles, for teachers of Arabic and English, mathematics and science. On March 12, an exam was held targeting school leaders, middle leaders, and teachers of social studies, Islamic education, and health sciences. The ministry is organizing a test on April 26, targeting laboratory secretaries as well as teachers of science and technology, physical education, and early childhood. The last exam for the current academic year will be held on June 25, targeting teachers of all circles and special education specialists.
There are three types of licenses for teaching professions: the “teacher license” and it targets all teachers of academic, vocational and language subjects. The second and third licenses are the “School Leaders License” that targets principals and their deputies, and the “School Professions License” that targets librarians, learning resource centers, laboratory secretaries, teacher assistants, academic and vocational counselors, guidance and counseling specialists, in addition to the school professions license for specialists of people of determination.
