Alitalia cuts flights and closes in advance the air bridge between the island and the airports of Fiumicino and Linate. Yesterday 12 flights were skipped at Cagliari airport, as many will be canceled today and the same fate will befall other routes tomorrow.
Reaching the Peninsula is a challenge, and for many Sardinians this also means the inability to participate in the public competitions that are taking place in the capital, such as the one for 766 seats at the Customs and Monopolies Agency.
Isolation
The alternation between Alitalia and Ita and the expiry of the continuity have sent the connections haywire. “We had to and must intervene to avoid isolation. This situation is the result of the very serious distraction of the Gentiloni and Conte Governments », says Ugo Cappellacci.
«Sardinian citizens, prisoners at home, are denied the right to have equal opportunities with their compatriots, with competitions at risk and the impossibility of moving from the island. This is a very serious damage », adds the president of the special commission for insularity, Michele Cossa.
The obstacles
The competition for the Customs Agency takes place today at the Fiera di Roma, after the July preselections held in the decentralized offices. Participants could only rely on low cost flights – with prohibitive prices – or on ferries (but yesterday there were no departures of the Cagliari-Civitavecchia line).
There are those who take it out on the previous governments and those who, like the opposition, point the finger at the regional government: “It is not clear what more important the governor has to do in these hours than trying to resolve the isolation of the Sardinians, while hundreds of citizens are unable to return home or are unable to take a plane to the peninsula for health or work reasons “, attacks the leader of the Progressives Francesco Agus.
In Parliament
Yesterday there was also talk of Sardinian transport in the Chamber: “I ask that the Minister of Infrastructures urgently come to the Chamber, Sardinia is going through one of the blackest crises”, said Andrea Vallascas, of “L’Alternativa exists” .
“In these conditions the island must never find itself again, never again will a regional president have to lead citizens to this point of exasperation by indolence”, added Romina Mura (Pd).
