Alitalia, at the start of the test in Fiumicino: from tomorrow fast buffer at the departure for two Rome-Milan flights

Covid tested flights. Alitalia tries, starting with two domestic flights on the Rome-Linate route out of the seven scheduled daily. The idea – once the experimentation is over – is to continue with international and intercontinental flights, especially to countries that have more worrying epidemiological situations. Of course, the idea of traveling with those who do not have the infection in place is very reassuring for passengers, especially where there are no longer the distances expected at the beginning of the pandemic and you travel side by side.

The experimental phase

It lasts one month, from tomorrow to 16 October and will cover the daily flight at 1.30pm and at 5.30pm, active from Monday to Friday. The chosen route is Rome-Linate, thanks to the collaboration of Aeroporti di Roma and the Lazio Region. Only passengers who will carry out a quick antigenic swab at Fiumicino or who will bring with them the results of a swab (antigenic or molecular) taken no later than 72 hours before boarding. In the first case, passengers must show up 72 to 2 hours before their flight at the drive in of the long stay car park or up to 1.5 hours before at the health center at Terminal 3, Arrivals area, door 4. To be able to carry out the test, show – in addition to the ticket for one of the two experimental flights – the health card and self-certification of home isolation, which can be downloaded from the airline’s website. The result of the swab will be available in 30 minutes and the traveler is required and not to walk away. Those who do not want to undergo tests (or to carry them independently) must ask for a free flight change at least one hour before departure (06.65859458). Children up to the age of 6 are exempt, unless their parents specifically request it.

The results

If the test result is negative, the passenger can board. Otherwise he will have to undergo a molecular swab (always at the airport) and wait for the outcome in isolation. Those who can go home with their own means (in the self-certification form required for the swab there is a specific item) will be able to do so, otherwise, being unable to use public transport, the passenger will return home (if resident in the territory) or in other structures identified by the ASL and the Lazio Region with means made available by the Region. In this case the passenger can opt for the issue of a voucher for the same amount of the flight within fourteen days from the date of the withdrawal (valid for eighteen months from the issue), or the refund of the ticket.
